It has been another Covid affected year but this year it hasn’t stopped some fantastic golf from happening and some great achievements by the ladies in the section.
We had to cancel all our social and fundraising activities at the start of the season but we did manage to host a coffee morning in October and the Ladies Christmas Afternoon Tea in December which between them raised around £670 for the club funds.
No weekends away or outings so fingers crossed we get out and about again in 2022.
On the course the Ruby Milne Spring Tournament was held on the 2nd of May Scratch winner was Fiona Campbell, Silver Division Dot Mackinnon Bronze Division Eileen MacIntyre
Helen Singer and Yvonne Carr won the Coronation Fours qualifier and progressed to the regional final at Banchory.
The Ladies Open was held on the 12th of June, 48 ladies played, we had 28 visitors and 20 home players. A few local ladies in the prizes - Andrea Thomson was 1st, Elaine McIntosh was 2nd and Shona Reid was 3rd in the Silver Division and Jane Campbell was 3rd in the Bronze
The Championship Finals day on the 26th of June saw Fiona Campbell win the McDonald Cup and Yvonne Carr win the Margaret Morgan trophy.
The Ladies 3-person Texas Scramble Open was won by Yvonne Carr, Amanda Farquhar and Shona Reid.
The Craighall Rosebowl Final was won by Nicola Fraser
Our Stableford final was won by Nicola Fraser – Silver, Eileen MacIntyre - Bronze
Our Medal Final was won by Shona Reid
A number of ladies played throughout the winter with Eileen MacIntyre winning the Campbell Trophy and Fiona Campbell winning the Duncan Trophy
Bennachie League - The Bennachie League was one of the few competitions played this year that allowed our ladies to play matches both home and away.
The ladies who played seemed to really enjoy their games and we have faired slightly better than previous years coming 6th with 3 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses.
Thanks to Eileen Macintyre for arranging all the matches.
Thank you to Andrea Thomson our Rep for organising the Ellon meeting and coordinating the BSLGA throughout the year.
We had a very successful Ellon meeting with 77 players playing including 67 visitors and 10 home players.
A quiet year for the County team as it was decided not to play the Golf View league due to Covid.
In the Watt Duffus held at Newburgh on the 17th May the team came 2nd for the 3rd year in a row, well done to all the ladies in the team.
From an individual perspective Fiona Campbell got through to the ¼ finals of the county championship and was a reserve to represent the County at the Jamboree in June.
A big thank you to our rep Fiona Campbell for organising the County meet at Ellon, it was a pretty miserable day weather-wise but we still had our highest turnout for a number of years with 37 ladies competing.
Unfortunately for Ellon, we came up against a very strong Newburgh side in the first round of the Robertson Cup and we lost both home and away fixtures.
All the more to play for next year!
Thanks to Sandra Low for organising the team and the matches with Newburgh
