SOCIAL AGM REPORT

This will probably be the shortest content report ever submitted due to COVID-19.

Social nights from March through to end of the year were limited due to this dreadful virus. However enough of the doom and gloom.

In February we had a Tapas night around 45 came for the meal and was enjoyed by all.

In March we had our Annual Sports Dinner, over 70 people enjoyed a lovely meal followed by excellent speakers George McNeill and John Rowbotham. Thanks to Colin Grant for helping to organise and John Gatt our MC for the evening, another excellent evening.

We also had the February bingo night which was a successful evening. This was to be the last of the Bingo nights until September due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

We were allowed to have Bingo in September in the evening but this was short- lived when it reverted to afternoon sessions in October until further instructions from Scottish Government.

At this point I would like to thank Sandra Brockie for all her help with the Bingo I appreciate it. Also to Laura Brockie, Andrea Thomson who helped with checking in members for track and trace purposes and selling the Bingo books. To Fiona Campbell, checker, runner, and selling the lucky squares great job well done to all .

Thanks to all members who donated prizes for the lucky squares much appreciated.

Bingo was then held in the afternoon October and November.

Birdie Club was drawn at the Bingo sessions and continues to bring in welcome revenue for the club. All winners have been posted on social board, facebook, website and in my Social Reports.

Back to the social Calendar such as it was;

April Grand National Prosecco afternoon tea cancelled.

May Dolly Parton cancelled.

August Jersey Tones cancelled.

In June July we put out an appeal to members for donations to refurbish the clubhouse. Everyone was extremely generous in giving of their time, and money. The result was incredible we have a beautiful clubhouse thanks to you all, you know who you are.

I thought it would be a good idea to have a meal to celebrate this and was held in December, restrictions meant we could only have 40 attending due to social distancing. Darall and staff provided an excellent meal.

It lacked atmosphere due to lack of entertainment, Jack Stevenson was booked for the evening, but had to be cancelled.

In December we decided to cancel the kids party. But we thought the kids should still get a gift from Santa.

Members had to book with Sandra to arrange a time slot to pick up their gift from Santa (Mitch Cabel).  About 42 kids received a present. Thanks to Santa for giving up his time it’s appreciated, the parents were appreciative too.

Lastly the social event for Hogmanay had to be cancelled too. It should have been The Tess Moir band, but like all the social events that I booked for 2020, have been rebooked for 2021.  Fingersx’d.

I would like to thank Sandra and Mike in the office for all their help. I appreciate it.

This concludes my report for 20/21.
