At the beginning of the season we started the first of the Mixed Social Greensomes, they continue to be well attended, weather permitting of course.
We also began our monthly Bingo nights, they have proved to be a great success, bringing in welcome revenue to the club. An average of 50 to 60 people attend on a regular basis .My thanks to all the folks who help on the nights, they know who they are, and I appreciate their help.
We introduced a new format to the 100 Club, thanks to Colin Grant, it is now called the Birdie Club, it has brought in new members, and it is drawn on the bingo nights.
In May we held a Prosecco Afternoon tea to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle it was a huge success with a hundred ladies attending all dressed up in their finery.
I asked our Golf Pro Sandy to choose the lady who wore the best hat and he did with some trepidation, he reckoned he made 99 enemies that day, but thanks anyway Sandy.
A day like this doesn’t just happen it takes a lot of organising and I got a lot of help from many folks. As I have thanked them in previous reports, I won’t name them again, but it goes without saying I truly appreciate your help.
A date for your diary we are having a Prosecco Afternoon tea on 23rd February in aid of the Neo Natal unit ARI, it is already well subscribed.
We continue with the Tribute Nights, in September we had ABBA REVIVAL. They were excellent, everyone enjoyed the evening. Darrall provided a lovely meal, and he and his staff coped very well, as did the bar staff who were kept busy all night.
I have already booked ROD STEWART for May and ABBAMANIA in August.
The Children’s Party was well attended, my thanks to Lisa Lollipop who kept the kids well entertained with face painting, party games, etc. I have booked her again. Thanks to my willing helpers Nicola and Fiona who enjoyed the day as much as the kids.
Thanks to Darrall who kindly donated the party food.
To Santa who stopped by to give the kids their presents. To the club, who has been providing the presents, for the past twenty odd years, and was appreciated by the parents who were there with their kids.
We were well entertained at the Christmas Party night on the 8th December Jesse Garron put on a great show. He sang his way through the 60’s to present day. He played variety of instruments, and kept the crowd on the dance floor the whole evening. I have booked him again for this year. It proved to be a great evening for Darrall who provided a great meal, and the bar staff were kept busy the whole night.
Hogmanay was a sellout, again Darrall pulled out the stops with his efficient catering as did his staff well done.
The bar staff again were kept extremely busy, making our Treasurer a happy man.
The entertainment was o.k. but the feedback from the majority of the crowd means I won’t be booking them again.
New Years Day was a good day for the club, the folks were slow at turning up, but by the end of the day the club house was full.
My thanks to all the who helped to make the day a success, The Ythan Fiddlers, the dancers, Amy, Caitlin, Lara, and Rachel .To Wattie on the moothie , and to the Royal British Legion Band, and to the surprise entertainer Kevin my thanks to you all, it certainly makes my life as Social Convenor a bit easier.
Lastly I would like to thank the office staff, Sandra and Mike for the help and support they give me, whether they want to or not.
If you have any ideas you think would be beneficial to the club, come and speak to me, and if anyone wants to help, that would be great.
