The House Committee meets once a month. It comprises the Club Administrator, Social Convenor, Professional, Bar Manager, Caterer, Club Secretary and the House Convenor. A couple of the final meetings of 2018 were not held due to lack of items for discussion and availability of the participants.
Darrall and his staff continue to build upon their reputation with ongoing events such as the “Fish Friday’s” and Sunday Carvery’s proving very popular. Their contributions to the Clubs social events is invaluable.
There were no external inspections by outside bodies during the period since the 2018 AGM. However, the House Convener has continued to maintain a close liaison with the Caterer and kept an oversight on kitchen operations.
The bar has again been very busy this year as you will hear from our Treasurer at the AGM. Over the last year more than the usual number of groups have been using the Club’s facilities and the fabulous warm weather also brought members and guests into the Clubhouse. Our small group of bar staff have been kept very busy this year staying on top of things. My thanks to Barbara, Gillian, Hannah, Julie, Susan and Tracy for their commitment and support during this period.
They were ably assisted over the summer and festive periods by Abbie and Kate during their breaks from their University studies. We hope to have both ladies back with us again this summer.
Unfortunately, Martyn Thomson our Bar Manager decided to leave us late last year. Club members and the Club itself recognised his contribution to the Club over his 16 years with us, with a presentation made by the Club Captain, Neil Whyte on Martyn’s last day at work here. We wish him well in the future.

Expenditure has again been limited to essential items and thankfully this year no significant replacements have been required. Wherever possible we take advantage of offers of assistance from members in order to keep costs maintenance costs to a minimum.
High cost items of equipment replaced - Glasswasher in the bar £1,100, 24 Dining Chairs £
Repairs (Bar, Cellar, Kitchen, Corridors, Office, Locker Rooms) £765. Larger items include glass washer £95, Fridge £16,
General repairs, Maintenance & security £4,762. This is a long list of mainly low and moderate cost items. The higher cost items include alarm system maintenance £700, repairs to safe £508, compressor repairs £469, pest control £368, roof & guttering £330, servicing of fire extinguishers £282, door closers £112.
Total of £2,769.
Overall costs in the year were £7,946 compared to £9,821 the previous year.
As always we will continue to monitor expenditure with a view to minimising costs and eliminate any unnecessary expenditure.
Gardens and Carpark
John Geddes took over as our gardener after Wattie’s retirement and has made his mark with several welcome changes and upgrades. He is still helping out the Greens Team as and when required.
My thanks to the following individuals for their invaluable assistance and time go to;
George Norrie (for his general handyman’s skills);
Eric Brockie (for his electrical expertise);
Martin Brockie (our semi-inhouse IT consultant);
Moira Ironside and Sandra Brockie for making the Clubhouse look suitably festive by putting up and trimming the Xmas Tree;
Jim O’Brien, Ian Moir, Brian McMillan and Neil Whyte who came in one Saturday in early December to put up the decorations and lights in the lounge;
Alan Barker for his now customary helping behind the bar at the staff Xmas party and the New Years’ Day Ceilidh.
And finally, to the numerous others who helped with the minor but nevertheless essential maintenance tasks which cropped up in and around the Clubhouse.
